Cecilee Linke

I can write you a story, teach you French, sing you a song.

Music

Electronic music with a heart

A love of 80s synth pop, French music, and modern electronic sounds permeate Cecilee’s work. On first listen to her recorded music, you might not think of her as a singer-songwriter. Yet she composes all the music and loops, writes her own lyrics, and sings. Her electronic compositions are influenced by artists such as Pet Shop Boys and modern artists such as Goldfrapp. Cecilee uses her music as therapy for her emotions and it shows in her music. Textured electronic soundscapes, banter between songs, and her passionate mezzo-soprano vocals draw you into her world as she shares her experiences with the audience, whether she is singing in English or in French.

Whether accompanied by her own piano playing or live-mixing of her song’s electronic loops on her iPad, Cecilee Linke brings an unexpected heartfelt side to what is sometimes considered a heartless, unfeeling music genre. There are more than just machines behind Cecilee as she sings. There are her emotions and her melodies driving it all. “Hanging on a strand, a prism in your hand, here I am,” she sings in the first vocal track on Where the Light Falls. This is who she is, and she hopes that you will listen.
